Lenox Brought Back Its Iconic Spice Village Set — And It's Finally Back in Stock
The ‘overwhelming enthusiasm’ for the pretty, pastel, house-shaped porcelain spice jars on social media propelled the collectibles’ return.

It takes a village … to bring back an adorable set of spice-storing collectibles. Friends, collectors and thrift-shop-scouring cottage core fans, big news: Lenox has restocked its reintroduced Spice Village set after the first relaunch last year — 35 years after it was discontinued — sold out rapidly.
And yes, the set’s viral popularity on social media — where, over the last couple of years, people have extolled its nostalgic charm in videos and posts — was a driving force behind the 24 retro-pretty, pastel-hued, house-shaped spice containers' return.
“The relaunch of the Spice Village was inspired by the overwhelming enthusiasm from our customers,” says Jennifer DiBenedetti, vice president of marketing at Lenox. The popularity of the original set on Instagram and TikTok, she adds, “made it clear that our customers see the Spice Village … as a cherished piece of art and nostalgia. We wanted to honor that sentiment by bringing it back for a new generation of collectors.”
In keeping with this everything-old-is-new-again theme, the houses can be ordered exclusively on Lenox at the same $15 price they were in 1989. A six-piece set costs $72. The full 24-piece set, featuring all the houses, will set you back $285, which maybe sounds like a lot, but is much less than the going price for a vintage set at a thrift store or on eBay, where a full set with display rack is currently going for more than $1,000.
First introduced in 1989 as a monthly subscription series in which customers were sent one house each month, the Lenox Spice Village set’s blend of whimsical beauty and culinary utility quickly made it a crave-worthy collectors’ item. Each little three-inch-tall, spice-storing porcelain house is different from the next — from Oregano’s lavender-shingle-roofed turret to Allspice’s peach-hued peaks and arches.

In the Spice Village’s heyday, Lenox also offered a house-shaped wood rack in which to house and hang the entire 24-piece set as well as porcelain storage canisters, salt and pepper shakers, butter dishes, napkin holders, decorative serving spoons, recipe boxes and other items featuring the same homey, botanical-accented design. Some collectors style their sets into little countertop villages, even decorating them to reflect the season.
“Each piece is meticulously crafted to resemble a quaint, picturesque house, making the entire set a miniature village that brings warmth and whimsy to any kitchen. It offers more than just a place to store spices,” DiBenedetti says. “The design evokes feelings of home and comfort, which resonates deeply with many.”
This second-edition Lenox Spice Village is nearly identical to your grandma’s first-edition set. Although some slight variations are probably par for the course, there are no major changes to the design. To distinguish the new set from the old one, the houses in the new edition include a back stamp indicating that it is part of the second-edition release.
"We understand that the nostalgic charm and classic aesthetic of the original Spice Village are what makes it so beloved, so we were committed to ensuring that this new edition looks and feels just like the one that has captured the hearts of collectors for years,” DiBenedetti says. “By keeping the design mostly unchanged, we allow both longtime fans and new collectors to experience the magic of the Spice Village as it was originally envisioned.”
“Longtime collectors who have cherished the original Spice Village will likely be thrilled to see it return, perhaps adding to their existing collection,” says DiBenedetti, adding that “new generations who discovered the Spice Village through social media and have fallen in love with its charm will be eager to start their own collections.”

The restock announcement has already sparked excitement on Instagram.
