Le Creuset makes a bunch of cookware products, but there’s a good chance just hearing that name conjures up an image of a well-loved, boldly-colored cast iron pot. That’s for good reason, as the brand’s durable, porcelain enamel-coated Dutch ovens are known for their longevity and heirloom status in both home and professional kitchens. But that popularity might also have something to do with the brand’s longevity as it celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.
To celebrate its centennial, Le Creuset is, of course, coming out with a new color. However, this new hue is actually an homage to its original 1925 color offering, a rich, warm orange called Volcanique (available these days as Flame). Le Creuset’s website says that this first, fiery finish was “inspired by the color of molten iron in the crucible.”
Now, putting what it calls a modern twist on that first foray into colorful cookware, the brand has released Flamme Dorée, or Golden Flame, a glittering red and orange ombre with a polished golden finish on its crucible knob. “The golden shimmer is created by natural minerals, much like the luminous streaks found in certain stones and rock formations,” Le Creuset’s description of Flamme Dorée explains. “Through an innovative process and years of testing, we’ve combined layers of color with these light-catching minerals, adding depth and dimension to the finish while creating a vibrant, radiant sparkle.”

Flamme Dorée is available as colorway on Le Creuset’s 4.5-, 5.5- and 7.25-quart Signature Round Dutch Oven, 6.5-quart or 15.5-quart Signature Oval Dutch Oven, 3.5-quart or 5.5-quart Signature Round Braiser and its Signature Round Saucepan. The company has also published a retrospective with Assouline Books titled, Le Creuset: A Century of Colorful Cookware, with Flamme Dorée featured on the cover.
Along with its fresh, festive color, Le Creuset has special anniversary offers and pricing as well. They include a set of two mini cocottes with any purchase of $250 or more when you use code 100YEARS, and 30 percent off a set of Le Creuset items when you use the code BUILDASET. Additionally, the Le Creuset website is offering coupon code-less deals, too, with $175 off its 8-quart oval Dutch oven, 30-percent off cutlery and cooking utensils, among other specials. Purchases over $99 also ship free, so now might be the time to grab a modern heirloom that could be a part of making meals for your family and friends for another 100 years.
