There are some unexpected ingredients in this recipe, but the result is sensational. You can use this bacon in so many ways: in a sandwich, chopped in a salad or just on a platter as part of a brunch banquet.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Line a sheet tray with foil and top with a baking rack. Lay the bacon slices on the rack in a single layer.
  3. Mix the brown sugar, maple syrup, coffee, black pepper and red pepper flakes in a bowl. Brush the bacon with the mixture. Flip and brush the other side.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes, then flip and baste with the remaining brown sugar mixture. Return to the oven until the bacon is cooked and the sugar has caramelized, another 12 to 14 minutes. Remove from the oven and transfer to a paper towel-lined plate. Let sit until cool and crisp, a full 10 minutes, before serving.
