Shaquille O’Neal has done a lot of things in his long career — even beyond the 19 years he spent playing pro basketball before hanging up his size-22 sneakers in 2011. He’s been a rapper, DJ, an actor, a podcaster and a spokesperson. He’s dabbled in police work, mixed martial arts and pro wrestling. And the big man has had a big hand in all sorts of business ventures.
Now the 7-foot-1, four-time NBA champion is notching a new accomplishment: He’s inspiring a new Slurpee flavor.
O’Neal’s Shaq-A-Licious XL Gummies candy brand has joined forces with 7-Eleven to introduce a limited-edition Sour Pineapple Slurpee inspired by the candy brand’s sour-pineapple-flavored gummy.
A little context: Shaq, who calls himself the “biggest kid in the candy store,” launched Shaq-A-Licious XL Gummies in partnership with The Hershey Company last September. The line of sweet-and-sour, larger-than-usual gummies, currently available in the U.S. and Canada, features two varieties: Shaq-A-Licious Originals, which taste like peach, berry punch and orange and are shaped like Shaq’s face, and Shaq-A-Licious Sours, which come in shapes inspired by the NBA legend’s nicknames: “Big Shamrock” (green watermelon), “Big Cactus” (mixed berry) and “Diesel” (pineapple).
It’s that last gummy flavor — a fan favorite — that has inspired this new “Shaq-i-fied” Slurpee, which will be available at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes stores nationwide through April 29, 2025.
“Given the popularity of the Sour Pineapple flavor in the XL Gummies, it was an easy decision to make it the star of the new Slurpee flavor,” the brands say. “Now, fans of all ages can enjoy this bold, tangy flavor in a refreshing new way.”
To promote the new Slurpee, 7-Eleven is offering customers at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes locations a deal: When you buy a Slurpee drink of any size or flavor, including the limited-time-only Shaq-A-Licious XL Sour Pineapple Slurpee, you can get a 6.2-ounce bag of Shaq-A-Licious Gummies for $2.
