What is it about Trader Joe’s mini tote bags that make people lose their minds? Regardless of the explanation, it’s happening again.

The grocery chain recently introduced a new take on the viral mini canvas tote bags that have previously sent people into a frenzy — lining up around the block, standing for hours, grabbing at piles of bags until they are all gone, despite many stores limiting the number customers can purchase. This time, the highly coveted limited-edition bags are being offered in pastel hues — “delicate pink, baby blue, mint green and lovely lavender” — rather than the previous primary-color drop, “to herald the beginning of spring,” the brand says.

The Mini Pastel Canvas Totes measure around 13 inches long by 11 inches high by six inches wide, making them suitable for use as a lunch bag or when you just want to pick an item or two up from the store. Trader Joe’s says they are also “excellent for packing up a little springtime picnic, bringing brunch supplies over to a friend’s house, or even just carrying your books and tech around school or work.”

So what should you do if you want one of these cheery little springtime totes? You could check your local Trader Joe’s. Although reports are rife that stores that have run out, Redditors in Oregon, Minnesota, Indiana and Virginia all say they’ve found bins full of the bags at their neighborhood TJ’s with no one jostling to buy them.

“I’m in Salem, OR and there was not a line to get them at the store here. I saw the bin of them but there was only one younger girl looking at them,” one Redditor wrote on the “Anticonsumption” subreddit.

“Same here in Arlington VA. They were in the back next to the sample lady who was sampling the garlic butter potato chips and I left with one but not the other of the two bags. The chips of course,” another chimed in.

“Not that anybody cares about Indiana but yes we had no takers too. Just stacks full of those guarded but no takers,” a third shared.

Also, there are plenty of them available on eBay — and at relatively reasonable prices. This listing is selling a set of bags in all four colors for $30, which works out to $7.50 per bag. This one is offering individual bags for $10.97 each.

Those prices are marked up, sure, but they’re not this listing, which is offering a set of eight Trader Joe’s Mini Totes in both the original primary colors and the new pastel ones for the low, low price of $1 million. No returns. But hey, free shipping.
