’Tis the season for the McRib to make its annual return to McDonald’s. On December 3, the barbecue-sauce-slathered pork sandwich is coming back to the fast-food chain’s menus for a limited time.

This year, though, the beloved boneless rack-rib-shaped sandwich — which debuted in 1981, was removed from McDonald’s permanent menu in 2005 and has more recently reappeared annually around the holidays — is re-arriving with an extra accessory. A very saucy one at that.

For the first time, McDonald’s is offering McRib fans a chance to buy the sauce that comes on the sandwich separately. A Whole Lotta McRib Sauce will come in a half-gallon jug featuring a very fetching, holiday-sweater-inspired label. It’s great for gifting and also, the brand says, “perfect for holiday parties, festive recipes or the ultimate stocking stuffer for McRib lovers.” (If you can fit that jug into your stocking, your stocking has a lot more stretch than ours.)

“The McRib is more than a sandwich – it’s a part of culture, it’s a legend, it’s an event,” Tariq Hassan, McDonald’s chief marketing and customer experience officer, said in a press release. McRib season, he added, “is a holiday unto itself, so we wanted to embrace that spirit and give fans an even bigger way to celebrate this year with A Whole Lotta McRib Sauce.”

McDonald’s will make these sizable, seasonal jugs of McRib sauce available for purchase for $19.99 online only at wholelottamcribsauce.com — starting November 25 at 10 a.m. ET, while supplies last. The drop is limited, so you’ll probably want to move pretty quickly to snap up some sauce.

The McRib sandwich, meanwhile, will be available via the McDonald’s App and at participating restaurants starting December 3.

If you’re excited, you’re for sure not the only one.

“Yay!!! I cannot wait. I am literally counting down the days :),” wrote one person on Instagram responding to the news of the McRib’s return.

“If they don’t serve McRibs at my funeral, I'm not going…,” another quipped.

Suggested a third: “at this point just keep it on the menu.”

Now that’s not a bad idea.
